Come Learn the History of Colerain Forges Mansion and Its Role in the Local Iron Industry
Dave Petit, our executive director and a local historian and expert on the iron industry in Central Pennsylvania and on Colerain Forges in particular, will be your tour guide of the historic mansion and grounds. Dave is currently researching the community that once existed around the ironmaster's mansion and will help you put the current structure into its historical context.
DETAILS:
- First and second Sundays of every month from May to October
- Times are 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. Tours last about an hour.
- Cost: $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-16

- Walk-ins are allowed.
- Tours can be scheduled outside the regular tours by appointment and availability. Cost is $15 per person.
- As a historic site, the mansion and grounds do not have modern physical mobility accommodations.
Aside from events, visits to Colerain Forges Mansion are by appointment only. Tours can be scheduled for the first two Sundays of each month from May to October. Tickets in advance are preferred but walk-ins are accepted.
Sweetgum Band
Come out to historic Colerain Forges Mansion on Aug. 23 for bluegrass from Sweetgum Band! 🎶 Based locally, the trio of Gwen Stimely (banjo and vocals), Steve "Buck" Buckalew (guitar, fiddle and vocals), and Bill Stetz (bass) are known for their harmony-driven original tunes. All proceeds from the outdoor show will support the historical preservation of the mansion. Bring lawn chairs or blankets, snacks if you want, and enjoy a relaxing summer afternoon of sweet music!
