As You Like It

Directed by Mary Rose Valentine

The  Colerain Center is excited to add Mary Rose Valentine as our new Director of Theater at the Mansion. Our first theatrical event was this summer's Shakespeare Fest on July 22 and 23, with tea, croquet, garden tours, and a performance of As You Like It

Meet Mary Rose

Mary Rose Valentine, a lifelong State College local, began her career in the arts studying classical ballet at the Performing Arts School of Central Pennsylvania’s Nittany Ballet under the leadership of Rebecca Maciejczyk and Conner Kilian Weigand. She learned theatre under local artists including Cynthia Mazzant, Richard Biever, and Chris Hults. She studied with the American Shakespeare Center over several summers throughout high school and college. In May 2023, she graduated from Penn State with bachelor’s degrees in Theatre Studies and Comparative Literature.

Mary Rose has directed full-length Shakespeare productions in the community and at Penn State, and worked as dramaturg or assistant director on multiple shows with the School of Theatre. She is an accomplished adapter and scholar of dramatic texts and an experienced and versatile musician. As Director of Theatre Programming at the Colerain Center, she hopes to encourage new ideas in conversation with the area’s rich history by supporting and spotlighting local theatre artists, producing site-specific theatre, and more.

The Future

Check back for more theater at the Colerain Mansion. A  Holloween murder mystery? Mulled Wine and Monologues for a cold winter night? And in the Spring—A PLAY'S THE THING!
